For a secure, flexible and cost-efficient power supply in the server rack: With xFlex Rack PDU, SCHÄFER IT-Systems presents the next generation of intelligent power distribution. The solution combines PDU (power distribution unit), software and gateway in one device and therefore creates attractive added values for data centre installers and operators, from planning and installation through to efficient operation.
SCHÄFER IT-Systems has developed the new xFlex Rack PDU series based on many years of extensive experience in the field of network and server cabinets as well as power distribution units. It responds to market requirements and allows for a high degree of customisation in an efficient manner.
“The new xFlex series has been developed with a special focus on flexibility and efficiency in order to meet the high demands of different rack environments with customised solutions. At the same time, development focused on factors such as cost efficiency, sustainability and optimised energy consumption”, explains Thomas Wermke, Sales Manager at SCHÄFER IT-Systems.
Unlike conventional PDUs, where the intelligence is integrated into each individual device, this functionality is external and centralised in the xFlex Rack PDU. This reduces costs, increases flexibility and offers a future-proof investment for the infrastructure in data centres. Depending on the version, the xFlex Insight management software is included at no extra cost. This eliminates the need for additional investment in separate power management software and the associated, often time-consuming installations
With visualisations, comprehensive analyses, alarm functions and overall management, the integrated solution combines power distribution and energy management. Another advantage: Centralised management reduces the cost of each individual rack PDU. In addition, the ability to daisy-chain up to 100 PDUs reduces network costs and supports efficient networking.
With the Gateway Module and the Controller Module, there are two options to choose from. The gateway module works in conjunction with the free xFlex Insight management software, which ensures high computing power and centralises the PDU intelligence. For efficient and seamless data transmission, communication between xFlex Insight and the PDU takes place via a fast and secure proprietary encrypted protocol. The cost-effective plug & play option for PDU management is scalable, allows for real-time data streaming via a private data bus with high security and therefore ensures optimum control and insight into the energy infrastructure.
The controller module has embedded software with a web browser application that is integrated into the PDU controller. This ensures seamless functionality without external installation. The module communicates directly with any other DC management software. In standalone operation, this solution works like an independent unit with integrated PDU intelligence. All interchangeable controller modules have the same design and therefore offer maximum flexibility. With its focussed functions, the controller module is particularly efficiently tailored to specific user requirements.
Another special feature of the xFlex Rack PDU is its display, controlled via a smartphone app. NFC technology (Near Field Communication) eliminates the need for a physical display. The smartphone app allows for quick and convenient creation of a virtual PDU display.
With these advantages and the high degree of scalability, the new xFlex Rack PDU series fits seamlessly into the iQdata product line with its modular rack concept. In this way, SCHÄFER IT-Systems offers holistic, efficient solutions for racks and their power management from a single source, combining a high degree of customisability with intelligence and a high level of security.
