Neunkirchen, 17 March 2025. The increasing computing power of processors and chips, along with a high computer density in modern IT racks, can push air cooling systems to their limits. A powerful alternative is offered by SCHÄFER IT-Systems' InRack DLC systems – a secure and sustainable cooling solution for directly water-cooled IT components. Integrated safety systems and continuous monitoring of all relevant parameters ensure a high level of operational security.
InRack DLC systems enable a space-saving design with additional room in the rack thanks to direct water cooling (pump box). Despite their compact dimensions, they ensure particularly energy-efficient cooling for water-cooled IT components.
Saving Space in the Rack
To separate the primary building chilled water network from the cooling circuit, a particularly space-saving high-performance plate heat exchanger is used. Its low energy consumption and efficient heat recovery result in a low PuE value, ensuring effortless compliance with the Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG). Additionally, eligibility for subsidies is guaranteed due to the use of a 100 per cent natural refrigerant.
An externally positioned valve precisely regulates the chilled water supply temperature of the secondary server circuit to the desired setpoints. Furthermore, a safety group and an expansion vessel enhance system security. The integrated monitoring system continuously records all relevant parameters and provides alerts in the event of potential malfunctions, allowing for timely countermeasures.
Permanent Temperature Control
The combination sensor continuously measures temperature, humidity, and the corresponding dew point temperature. As a result, the server circuit temperature automatically remains above the dew point and can be freely adjusted. This offers several advantages: No condensate forms on IT components, eliminating the need for secondary-side insulation. Additionally, system pressure is monitored to detect potential leaks at an early stage.
Convenient Administration
InRack DLC systems can be flexibly adapted to a wide range of requirements, with a thermal capacity of 50 kW (DLC Standard) or 150 kW (DLC Extreme). This enables highly efficient and powerful cooling, significantly outperforming air cooling. Administration of the cooling systems is conveniently managed via web access. Thanks to heat recovery, the energy efficiency of both existing data centres can be optimised in accordance with EnEfG regulations, and new data centres can be designed and operated with maximum resource efficiency from the outset.
With its easily integrable, sustainable, and secure water cooling system, SCHÄFER IT-Systems once again reinforces its reputation as an innovative provider of customised IT infrastructure solutions
